Don’t laugh. This QR idea is pretty genius.
Emart, the Walmart of Korea, noticed a problem generating sales from 12 to 1 pm. In this Guerrilla Marketing concept, they came up with the idea of giving people a unique shopping experience only available during lunch hours. A shadow QR code, that naturally worked from 12pm to 1 pm due to the position of the sun. Once scanned, the code activated the Sunny Sale promotion, offering exclusive discounts & coupons for mobile or in-store.
The results paid off. In total, 12,000 coupons were issued during the promotion, membership increased by 58% and in-store sales increased by 25% during lunch hour. It just goes to show that exclusive access really pays off.
